About Washburn House
Constructed in 1878, Washburn is one of the original three residences built by Smith. Named for trustee William Barrett Washburn, it has served as a cooperative house (1933–1938) and temporarily housed Spanish-speaking students during the Spanish Civil War era. Downtown Northampton is a five-minute walk away.
