About Tyler House
Built in 1898, Tyler was the last of six dormitories constructed in Smith's very early years. The house showcases impressive Queen Anne–style brick architecture with a prominent front porch and is located on Green Street near the music building, gym, and athletic fields, with the Paradise Pond waterfall audible from open windows.
Notable residents
- Jane Harman ’66 — Nine-term U.S. Representative from California and later president of the Wilson Center; an active resident of Tyler House all four years. (Smith College — Sophia Smith Collection)
